Protests Erupt in Gilgit Baltistan Over Parachinar Crisis

Residents of Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan have staged a large protest against the ongoing violence and road blockades in Parachinar, located in the Kurram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The protestors are demanding immediate government action to address the humanitarian crisis caused by these issues.

The road blockades have led to severe shortages of food, medicine, and other essential goods, worsening the situation for residents. A Parachinar resident at the protest stated, "Those who want peace in Parachinar should join the protest. Until our demands are met, we will not stop. The government needs to listen to the voices of the people."

Protestors have also criticized the government's de-weaponization policy, expressing doubt about its effectiveness. One protestor remarked, "De-weaponization works in areas where there is trust in the government. But here, how can we trust the government when it is not even providing basic security and necessities?"

Despite the government's claims, many in Parachinar remain unconvinced, fearing that without addressing the root causes of violence and reopening vital roads, the situation will worsen. As protests spread to other regions, including Gilgit, the message is clear: the protests will continue until the people of Parachinar receive justice and their demands are met.
