In Patna, Bihar, Prashant Kishore, the leader of Jan Suraj, has started an indefinite hunger strike. He is demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Civil Services (BPSC) examination due to an alleged paper leak. Kishore joined students protesting at Gandhi Maidan and criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for not addressing the students' concerns.
Kishore stated, "This is against the egoistic government whose leader CM Nitish Kumar did not consider meeting the students." The students are calling for the cancellation of the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, which took place on December 13.
Earlier, leaders from Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) attempted to meet the Governor about the issue but were stopped by police. Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan accused the Bihar government of failing to provide justice to the students.
On Sunday, police used force to disperse the protesting students, leading to an FIR against many, including Kishore, for unauthorized gatherings. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav condemned the police action, expressing support for the students' demand for a re-examination.
Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar assured that the BPSC would investigate the complaints and make an appropriate decision.
