Police Defend Anjali Birla Against False UPSC Claims
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 26: Special Inspector General of Police (Cyber Crimes department, government of Maharashtra) Yashasvi Yadav stated that a slanderous campaign was being run against Anjali Birla, daughter of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging she joined UPSC through non-meritorious means. Yadav clarified that these claims were baseless.
Yadav mentioned that seven or eight social media accounts were identified for spreading these false allegations. A First Information Report has been registered, and some account holders have been summoned. One account holder, running a parody account of Dhruv Rathee, has publicly apologized and deleted the defamatory comments.
The Delhi High Court directed Google Inc. and X Corp (formerly known as Twitter) to remove posts falsely alleging that Anjali Birla passed the UPSC exams due to her father’s influence. The court also restrained unidentified defendants from making further defamatory allegations.
Anjali Birla, an IRPS officer, filed a defamation suit seeking the removal of these false social media posts.
