Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), October 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan in Jharkhand, aimed at benefiting the tribal population by connecting them with government schemes. Named after freedom fighter Birsa Munda, this initiative will provide access to essential services like mobile medical units, electricity, water, and solar energy.
Speaking at the Parivartan Mahasabha in Hazaribagh, PM Modi emphasized the scheme's potential to bring significant changes to the lives of Jharkhand's tribal community. The scheme has a total budget of over Rs 79,150 crore.
PM Modi criticized the Congress for neglecting the contributions of the tribal community in the freedom struggle, accusing them of nepotism. He praised the BJP for honoring tribal heroes by building a museum dedicated to Birsa Munda in Ranchi and celebrating Tribal Pride Day on his birthday.
Expressing his connection with Jharkhand, PM Modi recalled his previous visits and the unique relationship he shares with the state. He also highlighted the government's efforts to improve education for tribal youth by building Eklavya Model Residential Schools, with 40 schools being inaugurated and foundation stones laid for 25 more.
Jharkhand is set to hold elections for its 81-member legislative assembly by December 2024, with the current government's term ending in January 2025.
