Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, announced the district-level implementation of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for 27 aspirational districts in India. This event marked the third anniversary of the initiative. Goyal emphasized that GatiShakti is a smart tool for infrastructure planning and revealed plans to extend the District Master Plan to over 750 districts in the next 18 months.

He also introduced ‘Guidelines for Preparing City Logistics Plans for Indian Cities’ to help cities tailor their logistics strategies. Goyal highlighted that the National Master Plan is a fast, efficient, and cost-effective tool for developing world-class infrastructure in India. He noted that the country is gaining global recognition for its modern infrastructure projects.

The Minister stressed the importance of integrating geospatial and advanced technologies into the PM GatiShakti Master Plan to transform India’s connectivity. He praised the BISAG-N team for their work on the platform, which is expected to reduce government expenses and improve planning through data-driven decisions.

Goyal acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision in recognizing the potential of spatial technologies, initially implemented in Gujarat. The PM GatiShakti now includes social infrastructure planning, mapping facilities like power lines, schools, and hospitals to enhance living standards. The initiative aims to merge ease of doing business with ease of living.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) held a meeting with stakeholders to review the platform’s performance and explore improvements.
