Omar Ayub Criticizes PM Shehbaz Sharif Amidst PTI-Government Tensions

In Islamabad, Pakistan's Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Omar Ayub, criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, describing him as a powerless "servant or a clerk." This statement followed the breakdown of talks between PTI and the government, with PTI refusing further discussions.

Omar Ayub blamed government policies for the rising inflation and accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of potentially agreeing to water distribution deals detrimental to Sindh's people. PTI has rejected PM Sharif's offer to resume talks and form a parliamentary committee to resolve ongoing conflicts.

PM Shehbaz Sharif had expressed willingness to engage in dialogue with PTI and proposed forming a committee to address issues. During a federal cabinet meeting, Sharif mentioned that PTI had submitted written demands, which the government was expected to address in writing. However, PTI canceled a scheduled meeting on January 28.

Sharif emphasized the importance of responding to written demands in writing, recalling that after the 2018 elections, a parliamentary committee was formed to address election-related concerns.
