Odisha Celebrates Cultural Heritage at 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted the state's rich cultural heritage at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar. He praised Odisha's contributions to India's classical arts, including the Odissi dance and Pattachitra paintings, and the famous handloom fabrics of Sambalpur. Majhi also emphasized Odisha's natural beauty.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke about the importance of the Indian diaspora in nation-building, noting their role in bringing developmental opportunities to India. He described the diaspora as a "living bridge" connecting India to the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from CM Majhi and EAM Jaishankar upon his arrival in Bhubaneswar. The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, themed "Diaspora's Contribution to a Viksit Bharat," is organized in partnership with the Odisha State Government from January 8 to 10. A large number of Indian diaspora members from over 50 countries are participating.
PM Modi will inaugurate the convention and virtually flag off the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train for the Indian diaspora, under the Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana.
