Nurlan Yermekbayev's Visit to Delhi
Nurlan Yermekbayev, the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), is set to visit Delhi from February 4-7. During his visit, he will meet with India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, at South Block and Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, at Hyderabad House. Yermekbayev will also address the Indian Council of World Affairs at Sapru House and lay a wreath at Rajghat.
India's Contributions to SCO
Previously, on October 16, S Jaishankar signed eight outcome documents at the 23rd SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad. He highlighted India's positive contributions, focusing on themes like 'One Earth, One Family, One Future.' Initiatives such as the SCO Startup Forum and the Special Working Group on Startups and Innovation were well-received by member states. The meeting also emphasized digital public infrastructure and digital inclusion as part of the SCO cooperation framework.
Environmental Initiatives
The discussions drew inspiration from Mission LiFE, a global movement led by India to protect the environment and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Jaishankar stressed the importance of fair connectivity projects that align with international law and the goals of the UN and SCO Charters.
