Nirmala Sitharaman Meets Singapore's President Tharman Shanmugaratnam
On January 16, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with Singapore's President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in New Delhi. They discussed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore, focusing on sectors like fintech and digital technologies. Singapore's Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, Chee Hong Tat, was also present.
The Ministry of Finance shared that both leaders are confident in expanding trade and investment relations in the future. President Shanmugaratnam also met BJP national president JP Nadda under the 'Know BJP' initiative and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
This visit marks the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between India and Singapore. President Droupadi Murmu welcomed President Shanmugaratnam at Rashtrapati Bhavan, and Singapore's High Commissioner Simon Wong noted the grand welcome ceremony. The state visit is from January 14-18.
