Mihail Popsoi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, has arrived in India for his first official visit. His visit, from December 15 to 17, aims to strengthen the relationship between India and Moldova.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, welcomed Popsoi on social media, expressing hopes for deepening bilateral ties and fostering a stronger partnership.
Popsoi's visit began with his arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport. He is scheduled to meet with India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat.
India and Moldova have maintained friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992. Recent discussions have focused on enhancing political relations, trade, cultural exchanges, and cooperation in international forums.
In October, the second India-Moldova Foreign Office Consultations were held in New Delhi, co-chaired by Tanmaya Lal from India and Sergiu Mihov from Moldova. The discussions covered bilateral, regional, and international issues.
In April 2023, Moldova announced plans to open an embassy in India, further solidifying the relationship between the two nations.
