Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Announce Major Developments
In Nagpur, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared significant updates following the Maharashtra Winter Assembly Session. He announced the approval of 17 bills and the transfer of direct funds to 85 lakh farmers, focusing on soybean and cotton farmers. Additionally, support for 55,000 orange farmers with up to 3 hectares of land was confirmed. Efforts are underway to rehabilitate 25,000 slums in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
Fadnavis also declared the northern part of Gadchiroli district as Naxal-free, highlighting the surrender and arrest of several Maoists. He emphasized the government's goal to eliminate Naxalism within three years.
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde announced the approval of 170 projects and proposed naming the Pune airport after Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj. He also commented on former CM Uddhav Thackeray's limited participation in the session.
The recent Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 saw a decisive victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, securing 235 seats, with BJP as the largest party with 132 seats. The Shiv Sena and NCP also gained 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
