The Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is preparing to host the 38th National Games with the third largest shooting range in India. This new range will have 160 targets, making it a significant venue for national and international shooting competitions. It follows the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi and the MP Shooting Range in Bhopal in terms of target capacity.
The range will feature 60 targets each for 10 and 25-meter events, and 40 targets for 50-meter events. This development positions Dehradun alongside Delhi and Bhopal as a major center for shooting sports. Indian National Para Shooting Team Assistant Coach Arun Singh expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for this ambitious project, highlighting Uttarakhand's prominence in producing international shooters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Games, which will take place from January 28 to February 14, 2025. The event will see over 10,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from across India competing in 38 sports disciplines across various cities in Uttarakhand. This is the first time Uttarakhand will host the National Games, following its announcement as the host in December 2023.
