Kerala MLA Ramesh Chennithala Demands Apology from CM Pinarayi Vijayan Over Gold Smuggling Remarks
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), October 2: Congress MLA Ramesh Chennithala has criticized Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for accusing the people of Malappuram of illegal gold smuggling activities. Chennithala demanded an apology from the CM, stating that his remarks created confusion among the people of Kerala.
Chennithala referenced a media report from September 30, where the CM was quoted discussing gold smuggling in Malappuram. The CM’s office later clarified that the quotes were wrongly attributed to him. Chennithala alleged that the CM was previously silent on gold smuggling issues and should not have made such accusations.
Chennithala also claimed that the CM’s tone changed after the Lok Sabha elections and accused a PR agency, allegedly associated with the BJP, of influencing the CM’s statements. He mentioned that protests have already started in Kerala against the CM’s remarks.
