Japan's Leaders Pay Tribute to Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
On January 1, Japan's House of Representatives Speaker, Fukushiro Nukaga, visited the Indian Embassy in Tokyo to sign a condolence book in memory of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Singh passed away on December 26 in Delhi at the age of 92 due to age-related issues.
Earlier, on December 31, former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga also visited the embassy to pay his respects. Both leaders expressed their condolences for Singh, who was cremated with full state honors in Delhi on December 28.
Manmohan Singh was a significant figure in Indian politics, serving as Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996 and as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. He was known for his economic reforms and steady leadership. His funeral was attended by prominent Indian leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
