Jammu and Kashmir recorded a 10.22% voter turnout by 9 AM in the second phase of elections, according to the Election Commission of India. The Poonch district had the highest turnout at 14.41%, followed by Reasi with 13.37%, Rajouri with 12.71%, Ganderbal with 12.61%, Budgam with 10.91%, and Srinagar with the lowest at 4.70%.

Voting began at 7 AM and will end at 6 PM. Notable voters included 102-year-old Hagi Karam Din Bhat, who chose to vote at the polling station in Reasi, and Paralympian Rakesh Kumar, who voted in Katra.

National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah expressed hope for a good turnout, stating, “We have been waiting for 10 years (for elections), and the first phase went well. We expect a good turnout from the second phase also.”

Over 25 lakh eligible voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates across 26 constituencies in six districts. The final phase of voting will be held on October 1, with vote counting on October 8.
