Israeli Forces Seize Weapons from Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon
In a significant operation, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced the seizure of over 85,000 items from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The operation spanned more than 30 villages, uncovering weapons caches, rocket launchers, and tunnel shafts in civilian areas. The IDF stated that these weapons were intended to harm Israeli citizens as part of a plan to 'conquer the Galilee.'
Details of the Seized Weapons
The confiscated items included 6,840 RPG rocket launchers and anti-tank missiles, 340 Russian-made Kornet anti-tank missiles, 20 vehicles, 9,000 explosives, 60 anti-aircraft missiles, 60,800 electronic devices, 2,250 missiles and shells, 2,700 light weapons, and 2,860 other weapons. Many of these were Russian-made, found in original crates with Russian labels.
Potential Transfer to Ukraine
Israeli lawmakers are considering transferring some of the captured Russian-made weapons to Ukraine. The seized arms include Kornet anti-tank guided missiles, Strela surface-to-air missiles, and various RPG launchers.
Ceasefire and Withdrawal
Under a ceasefire effective from November 27, Hezbollah is to withdraw from southern Lebanon south of the Litani River. Israeli forces will also withdraw in stages, with the Lebanese Armed Forces and United Nations monitors taking over security duties.
