He shared his thoughts on X, saying, "Thank you my dear friend Droupadi Murmu! Together our nations bring much light to the world, not only at Hanukkah but all through the year. May we enjoy a year of peace and prosperity."
President Murmu also extended her warm greetings to President Herzog and people worldwide on Hanukkah, as shared by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on X.
This year, Hanukkah coincided with Christmas. Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, shared Hanukkah greetings and explained the festival's significance through a video on X. He described Hanukkah as a celebration of light over darkness, recounting the historical victory of the Maccabees over the Seljuks, which preserved the Jewish faith.
Azar emphasized the menorah's symbolism of respect for other faiths and identities. The Israeli Embassy in India wished everyone a joyful holiday season, combining Hanukkah and Christmas greetings.
India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also sent Hanukkah wishes to Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Sa'ar and the global community. Sa'ar thanked Jaishankar for his warm wishes on X.
