Israel prison service stands ready for release of terrorists for Israeli hostages today
Israel Prepares to Release Prisoners in Exchange for Hostages in Gaza
The Israel Prison Service (IPS) is ready to release imprisoned terrorists as part of a deal to free Israelis held hostage in Gaza. This is in line with the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Israel Prisons Chief Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi conducted a situation assessment for the operation. Three more hostages are expected to be released, making a total of ten since the ceasefire began.
The IPS has received a list of security prisoners to be released. After preparations, the IPS' Nachshon unit, the main escort unit, will transfer the prisoners to main reception points for release. The IPS stated that once they receive authorization from political authorities, the prisoners will be transported by the Red Cross to the release point in Judea/Samaria, and by the Nachshon and Masada units to the Kerem Shalom crossing into Gaza.
