Israel and Hezbollah Clash: Civilians Urged to Evacuate

The situation in West Asia is getting more intense. On Wednesday, after Iran launched rockets at Israel, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) told people in 24 villages in southern Lebanon to leave their homes immediately. Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, said, ‘Hezbollah’s activity forces the IDF to act against it. The IDF does not wish to harm you. For your safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately. Anyone who is near Hezbollah operatives, their facilities or their weapons, puts themselves at risk.’

The IDF promised to let civilians know when it is safe to return. The day before, the IDF had given similar orders to 28 other villages in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military described its actions in southern Lebanon as ‘limited, localized, and targeted raids’ aimed at destroying Hezbollah’s infrastructure near the border.

Earlier, Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets, guided by the Intelligence Directorate, carried out precise airstrikes on Hezbollah’s weapons production sites and terrorist infrastructure in Beirut. The IAF stated that they took many steps to minimize harm to civilians, including giving advance warnings. They also pointed out that Hezbollah places weapons under residential buildings, putting civilians at risk.

On Wednesday, after Iran’s attack on Israel, the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, spoke with General Michael Erik Kurilla, the Commander of Centcom, about the situation. The IDF expressed appreciation for the cooperation with the U.S. Armed Forces and emphasized their commitment to regional stability.

In response to Iran’s missile attack, Israeli Opposition leader Yair Lapid said, ‘The morning after Iran’s widespread attack, there is something that should be clear to our enemies: Israel will be victorious. With our military capabilities, our defense industries, the support of our allies and in particular the strength of our incredible people – we know that even when the cost is high, we will win. Iran will pay a significant and heavy price for last night’s attack. Tehran knows that Israel is coming. The response needs to be tough and it should send an unequivocal message to the terror axis in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Gaza and in Iran itself.’
