Indian Nationals Deported from US Arrive in Ahmedabad
On February 6, a group of Indian nationals who allegedly migrated illegally to the United States were deported and arrived at Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat. A US military C-17 Globemaster aircraft had earlier landed in Amritsar, Punjab, carrying 104 Indian nationals.
Call for Diplomatic Intervention
Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the deportation issue with US President Donald Trump. Dhaliwal highlighted that Modi refers to Trump as a friend and should seek a resolution to the deportation problem. He confirmed that of the 104 deported individuals, around 30 are from Punjab, and all are in good health.

A US Embassy spokesperson stated that the United States is strictly enforcing its border and immigration laws, emphasizing that illegal migration is not worth the risk. The Ministry of External Affairs in India has also expressed its commitment to facilitating the return of Indian nationals overstaying or residing without proper documentation abroad.
