Indian Army’s Romeo Force Celebrates Diwali with Locals in Jammu and Kashmir
The Indian Army’s Romeo Force Rashtriya Rifles battalion celebrated Diwali with the local communities in DKG Dehra Ki Gali of Tapa Pir and Manyal village, located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The event was organized by the Romeo Force RR battalion and saw enthusiastic participation from villagers, including women, children, and the elderly.
During the celebration, soldiers distributed sweets, shared in the festive spirit, and interacted with the locals, fostering bonds and trust. As part of the Diwali festivities, solar lights were installed in the village, bringing illumination to homes and streets. A soldier expressed pride in serving the nation and bringing joy to the people, stating, “Diwali is a symbol of hope and unity.” A local resident expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for bringing light and happiness to their villages.
Earlier in the day, soldiers celebrated Diwali away from their homes at an altitude of 8,000 feet in the hilly regions of the Pir Panjal Range. The jawans sang bhajans, distributed sweets, and lit sparklers to celebrate the festival of lights. Stationed far from their hometowns, army jawans also marked Diwali at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, holding Diwali puja, dancing, singing songs, and enjoying firecrackers.
Diwali, celebrated on October 31, is known as the ‘Festival of Lights’ and symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The five-day celebration begins with Dhanteras and concludes with Bhai Dooj, with families decorating their homes with lamps, sharing sweets, and taking part in joyful festivities, embodying unity and hope.
