Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Warns of North Korean Involvement in Ukraine Conflict
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised concerns about North Korea’s involvement in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He stated that North Korean troops have not yet engaged in combat but warned that their involvement is imminent. Zelenskyy criticized Russia for partnering with North Korea, acquiring 3.5 million artillery shells, and preparing to deploy North Korean soldiers in occupied territories.
Zelenskyy also questioned China’s silence on the matter, highlighting its role as a regional security guarantor. He suggested the formation of an Asian Security Alliance with Japan and South Korea to counter North Korea’s actions. Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine would treat captured North Korean soldiers humanely, in accordance with international law.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed the presence of approximately 10,000 North Korean soldiers in Russia, with 8,000 in the Kursk region. He noted that these troops are expected to engage in combat soon. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte also confirmed the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia.
