India vs Australia: Border-Gavaskar Trophy Begins with First Test in Perth
The much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is set to begin with the first Test match in Perth. Originally, India planned a warm-up game against India A at the WACA stadium, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to cancel it. Instead, the Indian team will focus on training, including net sessions and match simulations.
Steve Smith, an Australian cricketer, mentioned that practicing at the WACA will help prepare for the conditions at Optus Stadium. India had previously played warm-up matches against local teams before their last two tours in Australia.
The Indian squad, led by captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, will depart for Australia after their current Test series against New Zealand. The Border-Gavaskar series will start on November 22 in Perth, followed by Tests in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
India A, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, was supposed to play against the senior Indian team but will now focus on their unofficial Tests against Australia A. The Indian squad includes notable players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant.
