In New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya to discuss and enhance the cooperation between India and Kuwait. Jaishankar praised Kuwait's leadership in the Gulf Cooperation Council and expressed gratitude for the care of the Indian community in Kuwait.
Jaishankar emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two nations, highlighting areas such as trade, investment, energy, IT, culture, and consular services. He noted the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Grand Prince of Kuwait, which boosted bilateral relations.
Reflecting on India's 'Viksit Bharat' vision and Kuwait's Vision 2035, Jaishankar expressed confidence in the future of India-Kuwait ties. He announced a new Memorandum of Understanding on the Joint Commission for Cooperation, aiming to expand joint working groups.
Jaishankar also discussed regional and international issues, expressing concern over the situation in West Asia. He congratulated Kuwait on its successful GCC Summit and looked forward to further strengthening relations with the GCC.
This visit marks Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya's first official trip to India as Kuwait's Foreign Minister.
