Imran Khan's PTI Halts Talks with Government Over Unmet Demands for Judicial Commissions

In Islamabad, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has instructed his party to stop ongoing discussions with the government. This decision comes due to delays in forming judicial commissions to investigate significant political events. Background of the Talks

The PTI and the government had been in talks to ease political tensions, with two rounds completed and a third on January 16. The PTI had submitted written demands, including the formation of judicial commissions to investigate events on May 9 and November 26. Despite government assurances, progress has stalled, frustrating the PTI.

PTI's Demands

The PTI demands include investigating the legality of Imran Khan's arrest on May 9, 2023, and the subsequent protests. They also seek a probe into media censorship and internet shutdowns during the unrest. Another commission is demanded for the events of November 24-27, 2024, alleging excessive force against demonstrators.

Government's Response

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui urged the PTI to continue dialogue for political stability. He expressed confusion over PTI's decision to halt talks and encouraged them to submit grievances in writing for resolution.

Since Imran Khan's incarceration in August 2023, PTI's relations with the government have worsened, leading to multiple protests. The PTI's withdrawal from talks highlights growing mistrust, leaving the future of political negotiations uncertain.
