3,562 Arrests and New De-Addiction Centers
Haryana’s Chief Secretary, TVSN Prasad, announced that from January 2023 to March 2024, 2,405 cases were registered under the NDPS Act, leading to 3,562 arrests. The state has also seized property worth Rs 9.59 crore and issued 24 preventive detention orders.
Efforts include awareness activities, de-addiction centers in prisons, and the Prahari initiative to help addicts. The Health and Education Departments are enhancing de-addiction facilities and student awareness programs.

Awareness and De-Addiction Efforts
96 awareness activities were conducted across 91 villages and 27 wards, involving 38,973 participants. De-addiction centers have been established in 15 jails, and the Prahari initiative has identified 7,523 addicts for de-addiction support. The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau has helped 550 individuals towards a drug-free life.
Future Plans
The Health Department will establish de-addiction treatment facilities in every district hospital. The Education Department will implement ‘Nav Chetna Modules’ to educate students about drug abuse. Additionally, 971 investigating officers have been trained in NDPS case investigations.
