Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Approves New Rules to Protect Comunidade Land
The Goa Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, has approved an important amendment to the Goa Legislative Diploma No. 2070, dated April 15, 1961. This change aims to stop the misuse of Comunidade land, which is land granted for specific purposes.
New Article 31-A
A new rule, called Article 31-A, is being added. This rule will give the Administrator of Comunidades the power to look into cases where land is being used for something other than its original purpose. If the administrator finds that the land is being misused, they can send a notice to the person using the land, asking them to explain. After looking into the case, the administrator can decide to take the land back and give it to the Comunidade, with the government’s approval.
Preventing Further Misuse
To make sure the land is not misused while the investigation is going on, the administrator can also stop any other use of the land. Once this order is made, no other authority, like the Town and Country Planning Department or the Village Panchayat, can give any permissions or approvals for the land.
