On February 3, over 10,000 devotees gathered at the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi to celebrate its first 'Patotsav', marking the anniversary of its inauguration. The event featured grand celebrations, prayers, and cultural performances.
Significance of Patotsav
The Patotsav is a sacred occasion celebrating the temple's Pran Pratishtha, the consecration of deities. The day began at 4 am with hundreds of devotees and volunteers preparing for the Mahapuja, a unique blend of technology and spirituality.
Celebrations and Performances
More than 1,100 participants took part in the ceremony, with special projections enhancing the experience. The Nashik Dhol team from Maharashtra performed energetically, welcoming the procession of Lord Swaminarayan. A recitation ceremony was held, honoring BAPS founder Shastriji Maharaj and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Cultural Unity and Blessings
The event featured 19 performances, including traditional dances like Bharatanatyam and Odissi. As the day concluded, Brahmvihari Swami offered blessings, emphasizing the temple's role in promoting unity and harmony. He expressed gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and all contributors to the temple's success.
Inauguration by Prime Minister Modi
The BAPS Mandir was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14 last year, on Basant Panchmi, marking the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.
