FCI to Install 23,750 New Cameras in Depots Across India

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is set to enhance its surveillance capabilities by installing 23,750 cameras across 561 depots. This initiative, announced by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, aims to upgrade the current analog CCTV system to a modern IP-based system.

The new cameras will feature advanced analytics such as motion detection, camera tampering alerts, and more. A central Command Control Centre (CCC) and a Network Operating Centre (NoC) will be established at FCI Headquarters to monitor the system’s health and store incidental data as needed.

Additionally, environmental and humidity sensors will be included on a pilot basis to monitor conditions and ensure optimal performance. This upgrade follows a successful Proof of Concept conducted by the Quality Council of India at FSD Shyamanagar.

Over the years, FCI has progressively increased the number of CCTV cameras in its depots, with 516 depots currently under surveillance. Live feeds from these cameras are available on the FCI website under the ‘See your depot’ tab.
