ED Summons RTI Activist Snehamayi Krishna in MUDA Scam Case Involving Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

RTI activist and one of the petitioners in the MUDA scam case, Snehamayi Krishna.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna to appear on October 3 at 11 am with all documents related to the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. This follows Krishna’s email complaint against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

In the summon notice, the ED stated, “In exercise of the powers conferred upon me under sub-section (2) and sub-section (3) of section 50 of PMLA, 2002, I require Shri Snehamayi Krishna to appear before me in person at my office at the mentioned address at 11:00 AM to give evidence and to produce records as indicated in the Annexure in connection with the investigation or proceedings under PMLA.”

On September 27, Krishna filed a complaint with the ED against Siddaramaiah, alleging corruption and irregularities linked to MUDA. Krishna has called for comprehensive investigations into alleged corruption involving over Rs 5,000 crore related to MUDA since 2015. He has requested inquiries by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED.

Krishna emphasized, “There is huge corruption in MUDA. In this background, we have made a request seeking a CBI inquiry, and also there is more than Rs 5,000 crore of corruption involved in the MUDA issue. That’s why I have asked for an ED inquiry into this. Siddaramaiah is just an example; since 2015, there has been much corruption in the case. That’s why I have asked for all MUDA site allotment scams that have been allotted in a 50/50 ratio. We have filed for CBI and ED inquiry seeking inquiry; we are expecting it may come to a hearing soon. We have also asked for a CBI inquiry, and now Lokayukta is doing an inquiry into the MUDA case.”

Earlier, the ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in an alleged money laundering case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, linked to the MUDA. Following this, Siddaramaiah’s wife offered to surrender the 14 plots allotted to her by MUDA.

The Mysuru Lokayukta initiated an inquiry and investigation into the case after a court order on September 27 to file an FIR. The Lokayukta was directed to investigate allegations of illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, by MUDA. It is alleged that MUDA illegally allotted these sites in a prime location of Mysuru city.
