DRI Seizes 10 kg Opium in Maharashtra, Arrests Four

In a significant operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized around 10 kg of opium being transported from Ratlam to Mumbai. The operation led to the arrest of four individuals. Acting on a tip-off, DRI officials intercepted a truck near a toll plaza in Maharashtra on October 9. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered 9.69 kg of opium. The substance was confirmed as opium using an NDPS field test kit.

The operation resulted in the arrest of the receiver and supplier in Mumbai and Ratlam, respectively. Additionally, the cultivator who illegally diverted the opium was apprehended in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. The arrests were made under the NDPS Act, 1985. The DRI emphasized that this operation highlights their ability to dismantle drug trafficking networks.
