Delhi Minister Gopal Rai Addresses Protests After Tragic Deaths of UPSC Aspirants
New Delhi, July 31: Following the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants in a flooding incident at Rau’s IAS coaching centre in Rajinder Nagar, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai addressed the ongoing protests. He stated that the Delhi government is open to discussions with the protesting students and emphasized the need for a national law to regulate coaching centres.
Call for National Law
Gopal Rai highlighted the widespread concerns about coaching centres, including their fees and administrative irregularities. He proposed the formation of a joint committee with representatives from all political parties, parents, students, and coaching institutes to address these issues.
Government’s Response
Rai assured that the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are taking swift actions to resolve the students’ concerns. He urged the police to handle the grieving students calmly.
Meeting with Officials
Earlier, a delegation of students was taken to the MCD Commission Office for a meeting with officials. Additional Commissioner MCD Tariq Thomas expressed regret over the incident, acknowledging it as a failure on the part of the officers.
