New Delhi, India – The Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi Government and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respond to a plea by Masasasong AO. Masasasong, who is accused in a terror funding case, has been denied telephone and E-Mulakat (online meeting) facilities in Tihar Jail.

Masasasong has been in custody since 2020 and is challenging an NIA circular that requires a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the investigation agency for such facilities. Justice Sanjeev Narula has given the city government and NIA three weeks to respond.

Advocate MS Khan, representing Masasasong, argued that the denial of these facilities is causing distress to Masasasong, especially since his elderly parents and minor children rely on his communication. The NIA cited concerns that Masasasong might influence witnesses or tamper with evidence as reasons for the denial.

The plea, filed by advocates Kahorngan Zimik and Yashvir Kumar, highlights the hardships faced by Masasasong’s family and the importance of communication for his well-being while in custody.
