Deadly Attack on Frontier Corps Bus in Turbat, Pakistan

In a tragic incident in Turbat, Balochistan, a bus carrying Pakistan's paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers was attacked, resulting in the death of at least 11 soldiers and injuries to dozens more. The attack occurred in a suburban area as the convoy was traveling from Karachi to Kech. The convoy included seven buses and six escort vehicles, with the targeted bus carrying 53 people, mostly FC personnel. Two FC vehicles were also damaged in the blast.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an armed group seeking independence, claimed responsibility for the attack. Jeeyand Baloch, the group's spokesperson, stated that their "Fidayee" unit, the Majeed Brigade, executed the attack, causing significant casualties among what they termed the "occupying Pakistani army." A detailed statement from the group is expected soon.

Security forces and police quickly responded to the scene, securing the area for investigation. Unfortunately, Quetta Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zohaib Mohsin and his family were caught in the blast and sustained injuries. They were taken to a hospital for treatment, with SSP Mohsin suffering slight injuries and four family members also injured.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and offered prayers for the victims. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed deep sorrow, labeling the perpetrators as "inhumane" and extending condolences to the affected families. The BLA is known for its frequent high-profile attacks in Balochistan, claiming to have conducted over 300 operations last year.
