The petition, submitted by Supreme Court lawyer Al Mamun Russell and ten other legal professionals, also calls for the prosecution of those responsible for the alleged murder of government legal officer Advocate Saiful Islam. The notice was sent to Bangladesh's Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, and the Inspector General of Police.
ISKCON is accused of inciting sectarian violence, promoting religious intolerance, and forcibly recruiting members. Allegations include taking over Sanatan temples, evicting community members, and attacking mosques. The petition cites incidents of violence and claims ISKCON's actions have destabilized Bangladesh.
In response, Mrityunjay Kumar Roy, General Secretary of the Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance, defended ISKCON as a peaceful organization focused on spiritual and social welfare. He criticized the petitioners and emphasized ISKCON's teachings of peace and welfare.
