Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Honors Overflowing Narmada River at Sardar Sarovar Dam

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel paid homage to the overflowing Narmada River by visiting the Sardar Sarovar Dam site in Ekta Nagar. The dam’s water level has reached its maximum of 138.68 meters due to good rains this year.

The Sardar Sarovar Dam, part of the Narmada Yojana, has a total water storage capacity of 9460 million cubic meters. It started overflowing on August 11 and has been overflowing for 51 days, with a total of 10,012 million cubic meters of water coming in.

During the monsoon, the dam generated 1343 MW of electricity, and so far, 6283 crore units of electricity have been produced. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel provided drinking water to 10,014 villages, 183 cities, and 7 municipal areas, benefiting 4 crore people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expedited the completion of the dam, which was inaugurated on his birthday, September 17, 2017. Since then, the dam has reached its maximum level five times. The overflow has also rejuvenated 10 rivers and filled numerous reservoirs and lakes in Gujarat.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel continued the tradition of worshiping the water power of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, which is crucial for the state’s progress and water supply.
