The Peshawar High Court has granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, until December 23. This decision was made after her request for corridor bail in multiple cases was heard by Justice Waqar Ahmed. Bushra Bibi's lawyer, Alam Khan Adeen Zai, represented her in court, explaining that she faces charges in 27 cases. The Additional Attorney General requested that she appear in court as required by law.
Justice Ahmed approved the interim bail to ensure Bushra Bibi's presence in court hearings. Her lawyer sought additional time due to her involvement in over 50 cases, but the request was denied due to the upcoming winter holidays. The court's decision allows her time to attend the necessary court proceedings.
Non-Bailable Warrants Issued for Imran Khan and Others
Earlier, an Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and other PTI leaders. These warrants relate to allegations of violence and rioting during party protests in Islamabad. Imran Khan, currently in Adiala Jail, has been facing multiple legal challenges and had called for nationwide protests demanding various political changes.
The protests led to clashes in Islamabad, resulting in six deaths, including law enforcement officials. Conflicting claims have been made by PTI and government officials regarding the causes of these deaths.
