BSF and Punjab Police Seize Heroin and Drones in Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur

In a joint effort, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police successfully recovered heroin packets from border areas in Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur districts. The first recovery occurred around 12:30 PM near Dal village in Tarn Taran, where a packet of suspected heroin weighing 562 grams was found. This packet was wrapped in yellow tape with a copper wire loop.

Later, at 5:10 PM, another heroin packet weighing 545 grams was discovered near Thetharke village in Gurdaspur. This packet was also wrapped in yellow tape, with a nylon loop and two illuminating sticks attached.

The BSF's Punjab Frontier highlighted the importance of reliable intelligence and the diligent efforts of BSF troops and Punjab Police in thwarting smuggling attempts. On Thursday, drones and narcotics were also recovered in Amritsar and Tarn Taran. The BSF reported increased drone incursions during the foggy season, leading to intensified vigilance.

In a recent operation, the BSF and Punjab Police apprehended three smugglers and seized over 5 kilograms of heroin along the Punjab border. This included a joint raid at the Gurdaspur border, resulting in the arrest of two smugglers and the seizure of 4.524 kilograms of heroin, a bike, a scooter, and a laptop.

Earlier, the BSF thwarted two drone intrusion attempts along the Amritsar border, recovering two drones and over a kilogram of suspected heroin. The drones, a DJI Air 3 S and a DJI Mavic 3 Classic, were believed to have crashed due to technical countermeasures by the BSF.

The BSF emphasized the success of these operations as a testament to their vigilance and diligence in preventing illicit activities along the border.
