On October 3rd, the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam launched a program to educate the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) about their rights to demand good governance. This initiative, part of Mission Bwiswmuthi, coincided with the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Grievance and complaint boxes were distributed to Circle Officers in five districts—Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, and Tamulpur—to ensure quick resolution of land-related issues, promoting transparency and efficiency. The BTC has also become the first Sixth Schedule Council in India to digitize land records, marking a significant step in administrative modernization.

BTC Chief Pramod Boro highlighted Gandhi’s message of harmony, peace, and tolerance during the celebration at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar. He emphasized that Bodoland has moved from a history of violence to one of brotherhood and development, inspired by Gandhi’s ideals of peace, non-violence, and harmonious coexistence.

A pledge-taking ceremony under the Green Bodoland Mission was also held, showing the BTC’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The event saw participation from students, citizens, and officials.

In Guwahati, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya led the state in paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Sarania Ashram. He noted that Gandhi’s ideals of truth and non-violence continue to inspire generations and highlighted Gandhi’s efforts towards cleanliness, women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and farmers’ rights.
