Bhopal Seals Aurous Academy After Delhi Tragedy

The Bhopal district administration has sealed the basement and office of Aurous Academy, a coaching institute that prepares students for IIT-JEE and NEET exams. This action was taken after a tragic incident in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar, where three students lost their lives due to flooding in a coaching center’s basement.

Safety Inspections

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ashutosh Sharma stated, “We have sealed the Aurous Academy. During the inspection, it appeared that classes may have been conducted in the basement. To avoid any possibility of an accident in the future, we have sealed the office and the way to the basement.”

He added, “We will issue a notice and investigate other points as well. We will submit our report to the government, and if any other irregularities are found, action will be taken accordingly.”

Comprehensive Checks

Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Akshay Chaudhary mentioned that all coaching institutes are being inspected collectively to assess safety parameters. “SDM and police are jointly checking the safety according to all the parameters,” he said.

The inspections include checking fire safety, lift audits, exit doors, and whether students have been briefed about emergency situations. The goal is to ensure the campus is safe in case of fire or waterlogging.

Statewide Action

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has instructed officials to inspect coaching institutes running in basements across the state to ensure safety. These instructions were issued during a review meeting held at Mantralaya in Bhopal, following the recent accident in Delhi.
