With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching in 2025, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has voiced criticism against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She claims that Delhi is ready for a change in leadership, expressing dissatisfaction with the current government's excuses.
Speaking at Karol Bagh's Bikaner Chowk, Swaraj mentioned, "We spoke with the people at the signal and distributed pamphlets. Now we are going to meet the businessmen." The BJP is actively engaging with various communities to draft an election manifesto that reflects the aspirations of Delhi's citizens. "BJP is a very democratic party. We want our manifesto to reflect the aspirations of the people of Delhi. That is why we are here," she added.
Swaraj further criticized the AAP government for infrastructure and service-related issues, stating, "The roads here are in shambles. Under the AAP government, people are facing problems with water, electricity, and drainage. Delhi no longer wants excuses from the AAP but looks forward to change and a BJP-led government."
Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP announced its State Election Committee for the upcoming assembly elections, though the candidate list is yet to be released. In contrast, AAP has already released its fifth list of candidates. In a political development, BJP leader Ramesh Pehalwan and his wife Kusumlata Ramesh joined AAP, welcomed by AAP's national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal.
In the 2020 Assembly elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP secured eight. The Delhi Assembly elections are expected to take place in early 2025.
