Baloch Activist Sammi Deen Baloch Highlights Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan

In Quetta, Pakistan, Baloch activist Sammi Deen Baloch has voiced serious concerns about enforced disappearances in Balochistan. She specifically mentioned the case of Diljan Baloch, a 28-year-old from Awaran, who has been missing since November 12, 2024, after reportedly being detained by security forces.

Sammi shared on X, "Diljan Baloch, a resident of Awaran, was taken into custody by security forces and forcibly disappeared. There is still no information regarding his whereabouts or condition."

The family of Diljan Baloch is protesting outside the Deputy Commissioner's office in Awaran, demanding his release. Sammi reported that authorities are pressuring the family to end their protest and have removed their protest tent, forcing them to continue under the open sky.

Sammi criticized the mainstream media and Pakistani authorities for not addressing the issue of enforced disappearances. She stated, "If the mainstream media were to ask the Balochistan ministers about enforced disappearances, instead of questioning the affected families, they would realize the truth. However, the people of marginalized areas like Awaran may never be the focus of attention for Pakistan's mainstream media."

Enforced disappearances in Balochistan have been a persistent issue, with many individuals, especially from the Baloch community, being taken by security forces without explanation. These individuals are often detained in secret, leaving their families without information and facing harassment when seeking answers.
