Bahraich Villagers Find Safety in Shelter Homes Amid Wolf Attacks

In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, the district administration has taken steps to protect villagers from wolf attacks by converting the Panchayat Bhawan into shelter homes. This initiative aims to provide a safe haven for villagers, especially those with dilapidated houses or no homes at all.

Villagers' Ordeal

Many villagers, including elderly residents, have moved into these shelters due to the fear of wolf attacks and the poor condition of their homes. An elderly villager shared, "Our houses have become dilapidated, and we had to take shelter here. Two days ago, a wolf was seen at night, and a woman was attacked last month."

Shelter Home Arrangements

The shelter home supervisor mentioned that arrangements have been made for 7 to 8 people to stay, with more provisions as the number of residents increases. The local MLA and panchayat officials are ensuring adequate drinking water and toilet facilities.

Search Operations

The Forest Department, Police Department, and District Administration are conducting search operations to capture the remaining wolves. So far, four wolves have been caught. Drones and cameras are being used for surveillance, and night patrols are in place to prevent further incidents.

Efforts to Ensure Safety

General Manager of the Forest Department, Sanjay Pathak, stated that officials are on high alert following reported casualties. The affected area has been divided into four sectors, with 165 forest personnel deployed for continuous monitoring and search operations.
