Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces Scooty for Top Students and New District Offices
The Assam government has decided to provide scooty to over 48,000 students who passed their Class 12 exams. This decision was made during a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati.
Details of the Scooty Distribution
Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah announced that the state will provide the Banikanta Kakati Meritorious Award, which includes scooty for 40,735 girl students who scored 60% and above, and 7,938 boy students who scored 75% and above in their higher secondary exams. The total cost for procuring the scooty is Rs 345.75 crore.
New District Offices
On October 4 and 5, the state will inaugurate 39 new district offices called Sama-Zila. Each Sama-Zila will be headed by an Additional District Commissioner, known as the Co-District Commissioner.
Water Supply Scheme for Semiconductor Plant
The state cabinet has also approved Rs 121.36 crore for a water supply scheme for a semiconductor plant and township in Jagiroad, Morigaon district. The plant will require 12.5 million liters of water per day once operational.
Report on Examination Anomalies
A report by the One Man Commission, led by Justice (Retd) BK Sarma, on examination anomalies in the Assam Public Service Commission will be presented in the next assembly session.
