Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma continued his Advantage Assam 2.0 Roadshow in Tokyo after visiting Seoul. He began his day by paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa and was warmly welcomed by the Assamese community. During the day, he addressed the Advantage Assam Roadshow, attended by 160 business leaders, to promote investment in Assam.
Dr. Sarma met with Kazuo Ofuchi, Managing Executive Officer of Konoike Transport, inviting the company to explore investment opportunities in Assam's healthcare sector. He highlighted plans to build 23 new medical colleges and hospitals, emphasizing the state's focus on public health infrastructure.
The Chief Minister discussed Assam's close ties with Japan and the ongoing support for projects in urban development, infrastructure, and healthcare. He proposed setting up a Japanese Business Park in Assam and mentioned a USD 3 billion PLI for industries.
Dr. Sarma also met with Koga Yuichiro, Japan's State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Kazuya Nakajo, Executive Vice President of JETRO, to discuss enhancing trade ties. He outlined investment opportunities in Assam's renewable energy sector to Hirohide Hirai, Vice President of Hitachi.
Earlier, Dr. Sarma concluded the first phase of his International Roadshow in South Korea, focusing on renewable energy, semiconductors, and SMEs.
