Arvind Sawant Questions Election Schedule for Maharashtra and Jharkhand
In Mumbai, Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant expressed concerns about the election schedule announced by the Election Commission of India. The schedule states that Maharashtra will have a single-phase election for its 288-member legislative assembly, while Jharkhand will have two phases for its 81 constituencies.
Arvind Sawant questioned the reasoning behind this arrangement, stating, “Election Commission has announced election dates but two phases for 81 seats of Jharkhand and one phase for 288 seats of Maharashtra, I don’t understand what is the reason behind such an arrangement.”
He also expressed confidence in the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), predicting a significant victory. Sawant mentioned that the MVA will contest the elections with full strength, believing that the public’s dissatisfaction with the ruling party will lead to a major win for the MVA.
Jharkhand is scheduled to vote on November 13 and 20, while Maharashtra will vote on November 20. The counting of votes for both states will occur on November 23. In the recent parliamentary elections, the MVA performed well in Maharashtra, securing 30 out of 48 seats, while the ruling Mahayuti’s share decreased significantly.
