Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik Honors Heroes at Walong Day Celebration
On November 15, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General KT Parnaik (Retd.) attended the finale of the 62nd Walong Day celebration in Anjaw district. The event commemorated the bravery of Indian soldiers during the 1962 India-China War. Governor Parnaik laid a wreath at the Walong War Memorial and honored war veterans and their families.
In his speech at Walong Stadium, the Governor praised the courage and dedication of the soldiers, emphasizing the importance of remembering their sacrifices. He commended the efforts of Spear Corps and Dao Division for keeping the stories of these heroes alive. The Governor also appreciated the participation of school children and NCC cadets, expressing hope for the nation’s future.
Governor Parnaik encouraged the youth to follow the path of service to the nation and urged everyone to uphold the values of duty, honor, and patriotism. He highlighted the progress of Arunachal Pradesh and the role of the armed forces in ensuring security and prosperity.
The event featured various activities, including car and motorcycle rallies, cycle expeditions, and traditional dances by the Mishmi and Meyor communities. Indian Army troops showcased the martial art ‘Kalaripayattu’, and the NE Warriors Team displayed regional martial arts. The celebration was organized by the 2 Mountain Division under the 4 Corps to honor the ‘Battle of Walong’ and inspire a spirit of patriotism.
