Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari Speaks at Indian Air Force Seminar in New Delhi

The Indian Air Force conducted a seminar in New Delhi to mark the end of the No 3 Warfare and Aerospace Strategy Program (WASP). The event, held at the Air Force Auditorium, focused on ‘India’s Strategic Culture and Imperative for Contemporary National Security’.

WASP is a 15-week strategic education program started in 2022 to provide participants with a deep understanding of geopolitics, grand strategy, and Comprehensive National Power. This edition saw participation from all three military services for the first time, including officers from the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Army, and a research scholar.

The participants underwent intensive training in various fields such as strategy, military history, civil-military relations, aerospace power, information warfare, technology, and hybrid warfare. The program was guided by an external faculty of experienced scholars, and graduates were awarded a PG diploma in Strategic Studies by Rashtriya Raksha University.

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the need for military leaders to be strategic thinkers and understand the evolving geopolitical landscape. The seminar was attended by Gen Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Defence Staff, Gen Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff, senior officers from all three services, aerospace power scholars, academia, and defence correspondents.

In the first session, participants presented papers on ‘Examining International Relations through India’s Strategic Culture’ and ‘Military Outlook through Strategic Partnerships’. The second session focused on ‘Evolution of Civil-Military Relations in India’ and ‘Imperatives of Evolving Security Environment on Future Contours of Civil-Military Fusion (CMF)’.
