Assam Police Stops Illegal Entry of Bangladeshi Nationals at Karimganj Border

In Karimganj, Assam, two Bangladeshi nationals were caught by the Assam Police near the international border. The individuals, named Kobir Sikhdhar and Md. Selim, were apprehended during a routine patrol to prevent illegal entry. They were sent back across the border. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police’s efforts on social media, highlighting the successful operation.

Earlier in October, the Assam Police had also caught another Bangladeshi national in Karimganj and sent him back. Additionally, on October 2, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya caught five Bangladeshi nationals traveling in an auto rickshaw. The BSF successfully stopped them as they tried to flee.

On October 1, Assam Police apprehended fourteen illegal Bangladeshi nationals in the South Salmara and Karimganj districts. These actions are part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal infiltration along the border.
