A young factory worker from Bahadurgarh, Haryana, experienced a life-changing event when his right hand was severed by a laser woodcutting machine. He was quickly taken to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in New Delhi on September 28, where a team of skilled surgeons worked tirelessly for nine hours to reattach his hand.

The Emergency Response

After the accident, the worker picked up his severed hand and sought immediate medical help. Initially treated at a local hospital, he was then referred to RML Hospital. Upon arrival, he was swiftly moved to the Department of Plastic Surgery, where a dedicated team led by Prof. Dr. Mukesh Sharma began the complex surgery.

The successful surgery was a result of coordinated efforts from the surgical team, OT nursing, paramedical staff, blood bank, and laboratory services. The patient was kept in intensive care for three days post-surgery and is now stable.

Using advanced microvascular techniques, they reconnected the bones, tendons, arteries, veins, and nerves under a microscope.
